I bring all of my experience into our Trash Blast workshops.

International Entrepreneur. What I enjoy most is developing solutions to problems and then bringing the solutions to the marketplace. When you are dealing with widgets, it is best to stick with nuts and bolts advice. There are schedules, materials, supply chains, and customers. It is all very matter of fact.
Masters of Business Administration (MBA). With and under-graduate degree in Fine Arts and Languages my early business experience involved a lot of hands on learning. In earning my graduate degree I studied with seasoned professionals which deepened and broadened my business knowledge.
Floodplain Manager. Floodplains border water bodies and while normally dry, they flood when the water runs high. All bodies of water have floodplains. After the next storm, when it is safe to do so, head down to the water's edge and see if you can find the "high water" mark. Generally this is (you guessed it) a line of trash left high on the bank of the river. Floodplain management is a decision making process that aims to achieve the wise use of floodplains.
Collaborative Leadership. Throughout my career in both business and public administration, I have been a collaborative leader. I love working with intelligent and talented people who are passionate about what they are doing. I don't have to tell the team what to do, I just need to keep them working in alignment with their collective goal.
Access to support from an international network of resources. Trash on the shoreline affects everyone. When you work in a litter clean-up organization, you are working within a much larger system including private, local, state, federal and international organizations. Trash starts local, but soon becomes international. Trash on land has one set of rules and trash in the water has another set. We are all passionate about protecting these lands and waters for future generations. You are not alone. As a matter of fact, you are part of a an incredible network of selfless, caring people.
Former President of the Dog River Clearwater Revival a nonprofit in Mobile, Alabama, USA. Some years ago, I decided to find out what was happening with the river. I went to a symposium and was moved by the passion and joy of the presenters and the attendees. Days later, I joined a longstanding nonprofit dedicated to cleaning up an urban river in my home town and began a journey that led me to understand the myriad ways of managing the flow of trash from the land to the sea. And like most of you, I have organized and managed trash cleanup events and picked up trash.
Filmmaker. The most fun on the job that I ever had was in film and video production. I studied film-making and photography in college and most of my experience in film and video production came about while living in Toronto, Canada. Toronto has a strong independent film scene. I believe that my collaborative leadership skills were heightened through working in these dynamic, creative, international teams. (And tight, tight budgets!)
