Limitless Vistas in New Orleans, Louisiana USA

"Since 2006 Limitless Vistas, Inc. (LVI) has been providing at-risk young adults with environmental field technician certifications and skills.  Our program relies on funding through grants, but we do not have the money to hire a professional grant writer.  Somehow, LVI has managed to write the grants needed to continue its program.  During a Gulf of Mexico Alliance (GOMA) All Hands meeting, LVI heard about Shorecombers and its training program.  An LVI instructor/grant writer, now Executive Director, decided to take the Shorecombers’ online course, not knowing what it was all about.  The first class was an eye-opener.  Although the course does focus on developing trash removal projects, it is a lot more than that.  The course outlines how to develop a basic project plan that will then be used to tell a story to generate interest in the community, and potential volunteers, investors and funders.  LVI has been applying this technique to grant submittals and has been awarded several grants from new sources.  We have also used Shorecombers training to develop projects that were presented to the National Park Service for consideration.  Just as important as project work and grant writing, is the increased interest in LVI’s program since learning how to tell better stories about our projects.  LVI has also used Shorecombers leader BJ Smith as a resource when developing new projects.  She is always willing to lend a hand and is a valuable technical resource when thinking through projects." Where we pick up trash...

We currently work with the US Fish and Wildlife Services at Bayou Sauvage removing invasive species. We also collect water quality samples in Jean Lafitte National Park.

We are located within New Orleans, Louisiana and pick up trash at the Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve - Barataria Preserve in Marrero, LA, along the Intracoastal Waterway in Crown Point, LA, and in the Bayou Sauvage Wildlife Refuge.

Who we are...

Limitless Vistas, INC. (LVI) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization devoted to creating opportunity for disconnected youth.  Founded by Patrick Barnes, President of BFA Environmental Consultants, with the premise “The greatest opportunity coincides with the greatest need.” We realize that the infrastructure repair and environmental restoration needs are greatest in poor communities, and we think that the most effected individuals should have a viable opportunity to participate in the on-going the Gulf Coast Restoration effort and establish careers in industries with a proven present and future marketability.
